Aloha

Jean Nemeth

Excuse my rather oily appearance in the photo, but it was taken during my training in lomilomi massage, which as some of your would know, usually ends up being quite an oily affair! (:

I've always been interested in health and anything that supports wellbeing on all levels of mind, body and spirit. My background is in the arts, which includes music, writing, singing and performance, and I have personally employed a variety of health and healing practitioners of various techniques over the years. After all, our body is not only an extraordinary organic machine that needs maintenance in a physical sense, but is also an amazing temple that houses our soul and often requires assistance and nurturing to release blocked energies so as to keep our systems aligned and flowing. This is particularly relevant in current times with the intensity of modern life and sometimes-discordant experiences and stress that can easily throw us out of alignment.

My personal experience is that when I go through any kind of mental and emotional stress it usually manifests itself as a discomfort and misalignment in my physical being. I then go to my healing practitioner for assistance in releasing the emotional energy block that is usually the core of the problem. Once the energy is released and the flow restored, the physical symptoms disappear within an hour to a day.

In relation to lomilomi, I am a fairly recent haumana (student) of this sacred and respectful method of massage. When I did the course with my kumu (teacher) Tracey Lakainapali, I wasn’t even sure I wanted to do it on a professional level. However, after completing the course and coming to a deeper understanding of the beautiful and heart-felt Hawaiian tradition and philosophy, I discovered a love for this art-in-motion. It’s a powerful and empowering method that helps recipients to go into a state of deep relaxation, allowing for rejuvenation and healing on all levels of mind, body and spirit. The feedback I was receiving from practicing on family and friends made me realize that this was something I wanted to do beyond the level of a hobby. So I decided to ad this ability to my bow of strings and I enjoy providing it as a service for fellow seekers of health and wellbeing.

I believe the lomilomi practitioner is merely the instrument and channel that provides the client with an opportunity to allow for self-healing, alignment and rejuvenation. This is achieved by reaching deep levels of relaxation through the support, nurturing and honoring of the client by the practitioner.

And so, coming from a place of deep respect for this compassionate and ancient Hawaiian healing art, I am truly honored to be able to provide it as a service.

Aloha Mai – I come with love.
